A mix of specially recorded and live performances make up this recording of music from 16th and 17th century England. It includes masterpieces by William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and Orlando Gibbons as well as works by Henry VIII himself. This recording also includes music for later monarchs, notably Henry Purcell’s ‘I was glad’, written for the coronation of James II.
