UPCOMING EVENTS

The Choir of Royal Holloway is pleased to announce the return of its annual St Cecilia Evening, a concert on Saturday 18th November to celebrate the Patron Saint of Music.

This year, it’s our pleasure to invite alumni choral scholars to the College, for an abridged version of Handel’s ‘Messiah’, complete with a small chamber ensemble.

In the first half of the concert, our current scholars will be singing a selection of Ola Gjeilo’s music, covering repertoire from ‘Winter Songs’ and our latest release, ’Dreamweaver’.

Earlier on in the day, a memorial service will be held in the Chapel for Robbie Bowering, a choral scholar alumnus who recently passed away.

The structure of the day will be as follows:

12:00-13:00    Memorial Service for Robbie Bowering in the Chapel

15:00 - 17:00    Rehearsal

18:00 - c. 19:45    Concert
First half: current scholars only.
Second half: current choral scholars + alumni for Handel’s ‘Messiah’

19:45 - c. 20:15    Reception in the Picture Gallery

20:45 - c. 23:30   Dinner in The Menagerie at The King’s Arms, Egham

Alumni tickets (covering the cost of music hire, drinks in the Picture Gallery and seats for the first half) are just £12 and can be purchased here.

We’d love to see as many alumni as possible, so if you’re interested, please email choraladmin@rhul.ac.uk and come and sing!

STAY IN TOUCH

Royal Holloway has a long and proud heritage of choral singing, and we are always keen to hear from and stay in touch with choir alumni. We hold alumni events of the choir every 2-3 years, and most recently celebrated the 80th birthday of former director Prof. Lionel Pike in November 2019. Read more...

The best way for us to keep in touch with you, would be to register as an alumni here (please note, you can opt out of receiving notifications). Read the college's Data Protection Policy.
